Home Front Histories

Welcome to our collection of memories from those who 'kept the home fires burning' during World War 2.

Heritage Lottery has funded this work and London & Quadrant Housing Trust (L&Q) has co-ordinated it. With more than 100,000 people living in L&Q homes a good many of our older residents have vivid memories of the war years and how it affected their lives and neighbourhood.

Quadrant Supported Living, part of L&Q have sent out the message to sheltered scheme residents to contact us with their memories. We have also made contact through our newsletters. QSL worked actively in Waltham Forest with the Vestry Museum and the Oral History Society to bring this work together.

We are most grateful to all those who have allowed their memories to be published here. Many thanks also to the Heritage Lottery Fund for their support.
